- Peaky with mags
Before getting into details in this KWA SR10 review, a few things that are important to understand while considering purchasing it.
First of all, this is a heavy gun. It comes out of the box at 7.41lbs, it is almost a perfect replica of the real m4. It is great to have the feeling and grasp of a real gun, but it won’t fit the young.
Another thing to consider is that this gun is built for using only high-quality bbs and mags. So if you are planning to go on a minimal budget and to not invest in quality products – avoid spending dollars on this gun as it will not perform well with low-quality materials.
The SR10 is one of the most popular guns from KWA for years. People all around the globe absolutely love this gun. It was hard to find bad reviews for it, although we did find and will elaborate further in the review. The SR10 is the perfect mix for an all-around airsoft rifle.
You can run it as a DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle) and still out-range a large percentage of the snipers in the field
You can go CQB with it, although its weight and length can be an obstacle if you are planning on a hot CQB battle.
A full metal airsoft m4 replica, can be great as a main gun, built with quality in mind.
Let’s dive in into the features – KWA SR10 features reviewed:
KWA SR10 Features:
Fire Rate:
It shoots fast and strong out of the box, featuring 380-340 FPS on average. This can really hurt and even draw some blood. Do not try this at home. This FPS is on the high-end of the standard in the airsoft rifles world. It means that the bbs can go accurately for a great distance.
Weight:
This m4 replica weights 7.41lbs. This is pretty heavy. I got to hold the real m4, a lot more than I should have, and I don’t think is that bad. But compared to other AEGs, and for sure those made with plastic covers/bodies, this gun is pretty heavy. I wouldn’t recommend it for kids, as it can be frustrating to hold it for more than a few minutes.
You should also consider the weight of the addons you are planning to mount on it – scope, handles, silencers, etc. – and you can find yourself holding a machine gun instead of a rifle.
Mags:
The SR10 is a bit peaky with the mags it will accept. You can see the official KWA magazine compatibility chart . It will be best get KWA 30/120 rds. Mag with this gun to make sure you have what you need. Players using the KWA mags with this gun reported long and flawless performance.
Length:
The inner barrel length is 425mm. It is long, and not the standard for m4’s. It contributes to the fact that this gun is hard to customize, but it does add a lot to the fact that this gun is very accurate and has a hard to beat range for any rifle out there.
The length can also make a difference in your performance for short-range tight space battles, but for mid-range and up, it will give you the advantage
Gearbox:
The SR10 comes with a 2gx gearbox, with 9mm ball bearing. This upgraded gearbox shows fantastic quality and puts out the great ROF (Rate of Fire) and FPS that makes this gun a beast.
This gearbox is not very suitable for modification so if you are one of those players who love to disassemble everything in their gun, I wouldn’t recommend doing it with this particular gearbox. It has been made to give you the best performance out of the box, and dealing with its inner parts can easily become a source of all kinds of malfunctions. Keep that in mind.
Build:
A full metal body, with both external and internal build quality. KWA are known for their quality builds, and they are showing up for their name with this model as well. The grip still is your basic pistol grip, and the crane is stock. Other than that, the rest is just top-notch.
Players say it feels very sturdy with no barrel wobble at all.
It doesn’t come with any trademarks on it. While most players don’t worry about it at all, some will be disappointed.
The crane can have a little wobble that can be easily fixed by taking it off, throwing a velcro inside or wrapping it with electrical tape and putting it back in.
The trigger is very crisp and almost feels like it has a mosfet.
It comes ready with an enforced internal, ready for Lipo battery, and can endure the heat.
Sounds too good to be true? Well the only disadvantage with this build is that it is hard to customize this gun, if you want to completely replace the inner parts. If you are an experienced gun modifier, you should take that into account. If this is your 1st, 2nd, or if you are not planning on going crazy on modifications, don’t even worry about it.
Range:
The average range reported is around 150 feet, which is not bad at all for airsoft rifles. When upgraded, some players reported even 225-250 feet! Which takes the SR10 into the field of long-range games. I must note, that some players reported that sometimes the gun had a problem of the bbs dropping at appx 50 ft. Even replacing the hop-up chamber didn’t help. As far as I see it, using 0.25 high-quality bbs should keep you away from this type of problem.
Battery and charger:
The gun DOES NOT come with a battery and charger.
You can enjoy the capabilities of this gun with a simple 7.4 Lipo battery.
As mentioned before, the internal build is ready for a Lipo battery, and I would recommend an 11.1v for maximum performance, as the SR10 will handle it no problems.
If you want to be on the safe side, 9.6v will be great as well with very minimal difference.
The SR10 has been around for many years and still makes sound all around the airsoft world.
If you are looking for an all-around airsoft rifle that can give you the advantage of having one of the highest FPS and range on the field – look no more. The SR10 with its great build, durability, and quality of materials, can provide lots of fun and accuracy for years to come.
I would absolutely recommend this gun as a main AEG rifle, and I hope that you find our KWA SR10 review beneficial.
The SR10 is low on stock at most of the stores, at the time writing this article, I have found it on airsoft station.
